Where are women creators hiding?

Discussion about the role of women creators moderated by journalist Núria Juanico, with screenwriters Mar Coll, Mercè Sàrrias, Laia Aguilar and Carmen Fernández Villalba. Saturday the 22nd of April at 17:00, at the CCCB Auditorium.

“TV3 series created by women in the last 10 years can be counted on the fingers of one hand (and we’d still have two left). Between 2006 and 2016, our public TV has broadcasted 19 self-produced series, among which only three have some female presence in the creating positions.”

This is the devastating beginning of the article written last march by Núria Juanico about the lack of women creators in catalan fiction (and sadly, by extension, spanish and worldly). The territory seems impervious, but the will to change things is clear.

To discuss this situation, the author of the article will sit at a round table with filmmaker Mar Coll, who after ‘Tres dies amb la família’ and ‘Tots volem el millor per a ella’ is preparing the four episode miniseries ‘Carta al Pare’ for Movistar+; with Mercè Sàrrias, screenwriter in TV3 projects such as ‘Plats Bruts’, ‘Porca Misèria’, ‘Infidels’ and ‘La Riera’; with Laia Aguilar, screenwriter in series such as ‘Merlí’ or ‘El Príncipe’; and Carmen Fernández Villalba, who is behind of ‘Ventdelplà’, ‘Gran Reserva’ and the TV Movie ‘La princesa del polígono’.
